What's the hottest topic on network news? From November 1997 to October 1998, according to The Tyndall Report, the economy was given the most broadcast time each week by ABC, NBC, and CBS news programs. Weather and natural disasters were second. Religion was at the bottom of the list.
ABC correspondent Peggy Wehmeyer has a different perspective. The only network reporter specifically assigned to cover religion, she says, "There's nothing more interesting than reporting on people who struggle to understand the world in a different way, who believe there is a greater meaning to life than their own day-to-day existence."
