Road rage can yield to God's law of love
Getting to the root of the problem
It was a disturbing incident. Our family was traveling in an unfamiliar city, looking for an outlet store. We were lost, and I made a wrong turn. Apparently in the process I inadvertently cut someone off, and he was angry. He followed our car. No matter where I turned, he was on my tail.
Finally, I pulled into a parking lot and stopped. He drew up beside me. He emerged from his car, his face red with rage. I opened the door and faced him. He said, "You nearly caused an accident back there the way you were driving. I ought to beat you to a bloody pulp."
Now, I wasn't physically afraid. I hold a dark green belt in judo. I was concerned, however, about my children. What kind of example was I going to set for them? I mentally turned to God and asked, "What should I do?"
