Spiritual light heals serious burn

Translated from French One evening I was ironing while watching television. Distracted by the comic scene, I grasped the iron on the wrong side, burning my hand. The pain was intense. I asked my husband, who was close by, to pray, and I immediately turned my thoughts to God, as well.

During that week, when studying the Bible Lesson (found in the Christian Science Quarterly), I had clearly seen that my life was not dependent on a physical body, but that it was like a light, the reflection of infinite Life, God. I understood that matter, which seemed to be solid and real, was actually a kind of mist that would hide from us our true, wholly spiritual being.

Science and Health gives this explanation of Life: "Life is divine Principle, Mind, Soul, Spirit. Life is without beginning and without end. ... Life is neither in nor of matter. What is termed matter is unknown to Spirit, which includes in itself all substance and is Life eternal. Matter is a human concept. Life is divine Mind" (pp. 468—469).
