A heart-to-heart Christmas
A clash of wills quickly healed
"Mom, you owe me my money for this week."
"Well, you owe me still for the long-distance calls on the phone bill." Not the best thing to say to my high-school senior on our way out the door to take a walk on the beach on Christmas Day. I could have bitten my tongue.
We traded more accusations and harsh comments out in the yard. My son went back into the house, saying, "I feel like leaving a big rut in the yard." I went ahead to the beach by myself with the dog before any more regrettable words were spoken.
