HEALTH & HEALING
A defense from contagious disease
"My thought grew calm, and the disease completely disappeared."
Last autumn a young woman in my Sunday School class mentioned she had a cold. She said she was afraid of catching mononucleosis. Evidently several students at her high school had become ill with this disease, and there was much anxiety about it.
I assured her that she didn't need to be afraid. God loved both her and all the students at her school. God, infinite good, never creates or inflicts disease. On the contrary, God's law will protect us from contagion.
She didn't ask for Christian Science treatment, but I prayed for the welfare of the students at the school. I acknowledged that since God is everywhere, He was caring for everyone at that school. God is Love, and divine Love's will for us is health, not disease. When I saw my student the next week, her cold was gone. Later, I learned that incidence of mononucleosis was also gone. It had not become the serious problem the students had feared it would be.
