To Our Readers

People Who See possibilities where others may not are a breath of fresh air. Even in something as ordinary as an office move.

The Sentinel offices are now located in a different building temporarily while our permanent home undergoes renovaion. Some weeks ago I had commented to the project manager that we couldn't possibly be moving on the scheduled weekend because our new space appeared to be nowhere near ready. "Oh, it'll be ready," he reassured me. And it was. The move went smoothly as scheduled, and on Monday morning we were unpacking boxes in our new location.

Possibility-seers are not only a much-needed rock amid uncertainties, they can also help us see for ourselves what they are seeing. Elisha is a classic example. Bible readers are probably familiar with the panicky view of Elisha's servant, who saw an emergency in the making. The city in which he and Elisha were staying was surrounded by the horses and chariots of the Syrian army, poised to attack. But Elisha had a different view of the situation, and he reassured his servant, "Fear not: for they that be with us are more than they that be with them." Elisha perceived the possibilities for protection. He had confidence in God's care. He also prayed that his servant might see what he was seeing: the spiritual view—"the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire" to protect them (II Kings 6:16, 17).
