Prayer conquers pain and injury

While attending college I was in the Student Union where the Christian Science organization had a table set up. When I walked by, I was asked if I would like a book. I said "yes," and was handed a copy of Science and Health. I took it home, read it, and discovered it was much better than anything I was studying in college.

I subsequently went to see a physician about a vicious pain I had in my wrist. I was given medication, but a friend in the medical field later told me that the medication was merely a painkiller and would not cure the problem. I knew that this was not what I wanted. I contacted a Christian Science practitioner by telephone and said that I needed help. She requested that I come to see her.

During my meeting with the practitioner, I told her of the pain in my wrist. And after a few more minutes of talking with her, I again began to complain of the problem. At this, the practitioner firmly told me not to entertain the problem anymore. I got the message: to entertain the problem was to prolong it. This woman agreed to pray for me, and the healing was immediate. I observed how naturally and quickly the healing took place, and I have never forgotten it. Whenever I feel doubtful or discouraged when facing a challenge, I recall this initial healing experience, and I am reassured that Christian Science is a sure thing.
