YOUR LETTERS

"Hate's solvent is Love, God—Love that expresses itself in our love for one another."

Sentinel readers might like to know that the testimony "From a bombing survivor" (Aug. 31, 1998, issue) has a corroborating statement in the book Healing Spiritually—"Renewing your life through the power of God's law," on pages 258–263. Both testimonies are truly remarkable examples of how people have turned to God for healing, particularly in desperate situations. Healing Spiritually is available in Christian Science Reading Rooms and is well worth a read.

It's easy to label teens who have committed violent acts as hopeless and worthless. How would Jesus see them, though? As "lost sheep" whom their Shepherd searches for, finds, embraces, and leads home? It's easy to dismiss them as nameless and faceless. But what would Jesus call them? "My beloved brethren"? It's easy to return hate for a hateful deed. But hate's solvent is Love, God—Love that expresses itself in our love for one another. Didn't Jesus say that we should love the "least" among us? Each of these lost lambs is not separated from us but rather is one of us.
