Smoking and drinking habits overcome
Desperate to have fear healed, I asked a practitioner to treat me. To my surprise, both smoking and social drinking left me, as well. The immediacy of the healing was startling. At the time, I was on my way to a cigarette machine, when I stopped (on the second bottom stair, actually) and thought, "If God is All, I don't need cigarettes." There was a tussle with myself, but I never did buy any more cigarettes. The drinking, too, simply stopped.
On thanking the practitioner I said, "Now I'll be able to join The Mother Church." She encouraged me to join a branch church, as well. (I hadn't wanted to do that because I was reluctant to serve on committees.) But I did join The Mother Church—and a branch church. A year later I was accepted for Primary class instruction in Christian Science.
