How to win the battle against pain
Here's how one woman rose in rebellion against pain—and won.
Lasting Freedom — Some years ago an adult friend of mine was suffering greatly because of separators that had been installed between her teeth in preparation for braces. During a telephone call to her mother, she described her condition in great detail. She concluded, "And the worst thing about it is that I'm so tempted to remove these separators myself to end the pain." Her mother replied in a shocked tone of voice, "What?! And waste all that money?!"
The pain in her teeth stopped instantly. Without the removal of the separators. Without any actual change taking place in her circumstances. From this, my friend realized something about pain: that a change in thought about a condition can actually change the condition.
Of course, simply thinking about wasting "all that money" isn't the way to ensure healing! There's a need to do more than that if we want to gain lasting freedom from pain. Fortunately, the way for such freedom has already been prepared for us by the healing practice of Christ Jesus. It is clear from his healing works that Jesus' confidence in God's love and willingness to heal mankind never wavered.
