Q: When God talks to you, is it a noise or a thought that you respond to?
from two Sunday School students
in Santa Fe, New Mexico
A: I've never really heard God speak aloud to me in words. It's more of a feeling, an understanding, a clear idea that surfaces through all the distractions and bad stuff that hinder me from seeing perfect truth. It makes bad stuff really small—like nothing. It doesn't matter what the problem is—whether I am sick or struggling with a hard decision or feeling pressured. I become quiet and listen for God's message. This listening is praying; it makes me realize my connection to God. Sometimes the feeling that all is well (or the answer about a decision or a release from the pressure I was feeling) comes quickly. Sometimes it takes longer, but it always comes.
