Did you give a cup of cold water?
When you sat with a group of friends listening to their fears and discouragements,
When you were watching the television news and seeing the latest reports of violence and dishonesty,
When you heard a co-worker's complaints, a whining child, a disgruntled boss,
Did you answer with "enticing words of man's wisdom"? (I Cor. 2:4)
Or did you give a cup of cold water in Christ's name? Did your heart overflow with the love of Christ? Did your uplifted thought embrace them in unselfish prayer, "in demonstration of the Spirit and of power"?
"Millions of unprejudiced minds—simple seekers for Truth, weary wanderers, athirst in the desert—are waiting and watching for rest and drink. Give them a cup of cold water in Christ's name, and never fear the consequences" (Science and Health, p. 570).
