When I woke up in the middle of the night, I did not know where...

When I woke up in the middle of the night, I did not know where I was. Apparently, I had had a mental breakdown. I had been taken to a hospital and put on a medication while I was not able to protest. I was rested and partly recovered. Everything was done that could be done for me, but I was far from well.

After I was released from the hospital, I decided God had something better for me. Remembering how a Christian Science practitioner had helped me when my son was seriously ill, I started attending the Wednesday night services at a nearby branch church. The testimonies that were given told of a great variety of challenges that had been met by the members, and I was impressed.

There was a special friend there who gave me copies of the Sentinel. This inspired me to "study thoroughly the letter and imbibe the spirit," as Mary Baker Eddy urges in Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures (p. 495). The Scriptures took on a new meaning in the light of this wonderful textbook.
