My first healing in Christian Science both astonished and elated me.
My mom was greatly opposed to my reading Science and Health and she feared that my study would make me "crazy."
I had worn glasses (bifocals) since I was nine years old, but was very annoyed and resentful about it. After marriage, frustrated with few funds, I had turned in desperation to Christian Science. I was reading Science and Health, with glasses on, of course, late one night after my husband and both children were asleep, never even thinking about a healing for myself. In fact I was seriously weighing what Mom had said against what I was reading.
