Late one evening last year I suddenly experienced severe pain...
Late one evening last year I suddenly experienced severe pain in my neck and the right side of my head. The fear was overwhelming, especially since I was alone. I knew the first thing I had to do was quiet the fear, which I did by knowing that I was not alone, as I could never be separated from God. A line from one of Mrs. Eddy's poems, which has been set to music as a hymn, came to mind: "'Lo, I am with you alway,'—watch and pray" (Christian Science Hymnal, No. 207).
I also recalled many of the references to trust in the Bible and in Science and Health. The fear subsided and was replaced with peace when it became clear to me that I could place myself in God's care with complete faith and trust.
It was near morning when I finally fell asleep. When I woke, I was so completely free of any pain that it almost seemed like a dream. The healing was complete and there has been no recurrence.
