After a car accident I was unable to use one arm

After a car accident I was unable to use one arm. I woke in an ambulance with a policeman holding my arm against me. Upon arrival at a hospital, I asked that my sister be called, and I had her call a Christian Science practitioner to treat me. The doctor's diagnosis was that the nerves appeared to be severed. The arm was put in a cast, and I was allowed to go home that same day. I honestly was never fearful nor doubted that Christian Science meets our every need when correctly applied.

Two statements I recall praying with diligently were: "The word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart" (Heb. 4:12); and from Science and Health: "Adhesion, cohesion, and attraction are properties of Mind. They belong to divine Principle, and support the equipoise of that thought-force, which launched the earth in its orbit and said to the proud wave, 'Thus far and no farther'" (p. 124). Using a dictionary made the meaning clearer.

After the removal of the cast, there were insurance forms to be signed, so I returned to the doctor who had thought the severed nerves would require me to have an operation. I asked the receptionist to have the doctor sign the release forms. He came out to the desk appearing puzzled and asked that I lift my arm, then my wrist, then my fingers. I did each time effortlessly and normally. He was visibly surprised at my quick and complete recovery, and signed the forms. The arm "was restored whole as the other" (Luke 6:10).
