About a year and a half ago I noticed that each time I combed my hair, the comb had a lot of loose hairs in it. This continued, and it seemed to get worse until some bare spots and thin areas were appearing.

During this time I was having my hair washed and set by a hairdresser, who remarked about the hair-loss condition. The suggestion came at this time that I could wear a wig. But I was reluctant to accept any kind of limitation that would infringe on my active expression of my relationship to God.

I called a Christian Science practitioner for treatment. He pointed out to me that because, as God's image and likeness, I was made up of qualities of God, such as joy, integrity, completeness, I could never lose any Godlike good. We discussed the idea that hair expressed the qualities of Soul, and of beauty, and that, as the Bible says, "the very hairs of your head are all numbered" (Matt. 10:30).

My goal in praying was not to cover a bald spot but to glorify God and represent Him in my life. I made a determined effort daily and hourly to express my Soul-derived qualities of innocence, purity, joy.

Science and Health declares, "This is the doctrine of Christian Science: that divine Love cannot be deprived of its manifestation, or object ..." (p. 304). I therefore reasoned that I could not lose any good thing.

Progress was steady, and my hair is now completely filled in. Recently, when the hairdresser finished doing my hair, she commented that I have a very healthy head of hair.

I am filled with gratitude to God for his constant care, down to the most minute detail of our lives. Also, for the practitioners and especially for Mrs. Eddy, who dedicated her life to sharing her discovery, Christian Science, with all mankind.
