Jesus' family visited the Temple when he was eight days old
God had told a man named Simeon that he would see the Messiah. When Mary and Joseph brought the baby Jesus into the Temple, Simeon took Jesus in his arms and praised God because he knew that this was the Messiah. Anna, a prophetess who served in the Temple, also saw Jesus. She, too, thanked God, and told others that the Saviour had come.A correction was made in the April 28, 1997 Sentinel: The events described in the shaded box appearing on page 22 of our January 27, 1997, issue most likely occurred at the Temple in Jerusalem when Jesus was about a month and a half—not when he was eight days old, as the title incorrectly states.
