Christian Science has proved a sure foundation on which to...
Christian Science has proved a sure foundation on which to raise our family, and now my husband and I are glad to see our grandchildren attending a Christian Science Sunday School. Several years ago, when I attended my annual Christian Science Students Association meeting, I was greatly inspired by the spiritual message of the address that we heard. I had been studying the subject for the talk for several months, and it came alive for me.
Soon after this I was staying overnight in our daughter's home. In the night one of her boys, who was about two at the time, started screaming with pain. A few minutes later our daughter brought the distressed child to me and put him in my arms. She explained that he had suffered from ear trouble for some time. She had taken him to a doctor, who had provided painkilling pills, but could offer no cure. She said she felt a deep desire to obtain healing in Christian Science.
We sat in silence for a few moments. My prayer was wordless. It was a wholehearted trust in God. Immediately I felt the presence and power of divine Love embracing us all. There was only the Mother-love of God present—all my human sense of mother-love submitted to the divine. After what seemed like just a moment, I saw that the child was sleeping peacefully. His mother carried him to his bed.
