One weekend my husband and I were visiting at a friend's farm
One weekend my husband and I were visiting at a friend's farm. While taking a short horseback ride, we dismounted to give our horses a drink from a small stream. Suddenly my horse lost his footing on some slippery stones and pitched forward, knocking me to the ground. I twisted my leg and ankle as I fell. My husband helped me to my feet while I declared aloud the truth that I could not fall from God's protecting arms. Although I was in pain, I continued to declare that God's law of omnipotent good could not be reversed.
I was more comfortable when we began our trip home, but I found myself favoring the leg. I began to identify myself as a victim. By the time we arrived home, my ankle was swollen, and I was unable to stand. In addition, the intense pain had returned. I realized that I needed to pray. I knew I could trust God's complete control over every aspect of my being. I called a Christian Science practitioner for prayerful treatment, and she encouraged me to realize that God's unerring law leaves no room for chance.
The practitioner also imparted a great sense of peace to me, as I was concerned about being able to rest for the night. The next morning I woke refreshed. All pain and swelling were gone, and I was completely healed. Since it was Sunday, my family and I attended church, expressing gratitude for this evidence of God's unfailing care. This experience strengthened my resolve to expect immediate healing.
