We're all in business

Honesty—or dishonesty—in business has an effect on consumers, employees, and management. Can consumers do anything to turn an unethical situation around? Does the Bible have a message that is relevant to today's business with its networks, marketing, and telecommunications advances? What's the best thing to do if an employee is trying to steal your business? And underlying all these questions: Is there a spiritual response that will change, rather than just ameliorate, these conditions.

In the three articles that follow, the authors answer these questions by telling about their experiences and the prayer that led them to solutions.

The stark gray mountains rose above our new desert home, and as the dust blew through the sand around the property, I planned what I would plant to root and beautify the soil. A nearby nursery advertised a free shrub with every purchase over a certain amount, but after I bought several plantings to coincide with his offer, the owner said, "Oh, we've stopped doing that." No amount of appealing to his business ethics worked, and I left disgusted, ignoring the fact that I was in business too—the business of expressing our creator, infinite God, or Mind, as the source of intelligence.
