In January 1994 a beautician, noticing a blemish on my face, asked if I had seen a doctor. It looked to her as though I might have skin cancer. To myself I prayed, vigorously affirming my unity with God and denying that I could include anything evil. But shortly an uncomfortable growth developed.
About this time we went away, and while we were gone a Christian Science practitioner prayed for me about this skin growth. I did put a patch on my face to cover the area.
When we returned home I often spoke with the practitioner to help me with my own prayer. I did not want to go out socially or meet people other than a few Christian Scientist friends who were supportive of my treating this condition through prayer. I continued going to church, listening eagerly for the healing truths shared in the services.
