Writing: a joyous, healing activity
Authors helping other authors—that's not an unusual topic for magazines about writing. But what about a magazine whose readers are seeking an understanding of God's power? This commentary by a Sentinel contributor begins and ends with the importance of prayer. We hope it will help writers, and readers, see fresh ways to benefit from and forward the distinct mission Mary Baker Eddy gave to each of the magazines she founded (see The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany, p. 353).
A Few years ago I was in a newsagent's shop in a north country town in England when a woman stumbled into the shop. Leaning on the counter, she sighed deeply.
"Can I help you, love?" the newsagent asked her quietly. Tearfully she replied, "I hope so. I feel devastated. I need something to read that will give me courage to continue living."
