Why couldn't I find that new job I was seeking? After all, I had prayed diligently before deciding to resign from the company I'd been with for the last two years. Deceit and dishonesty seemed to be the cause of the company's financial woes. I knew I didn't want to be part of this, and couldn't continue.
Christian Science had taught me that we must heal our present situation rather than flee from it; but one day, I nervously and angrily had written out a letter of resignation and left the premises. That was it, I thought; I was free now to go get a good job with higher pay.
One month after beginning my job search, I realized that there was much to be healed. Christian Science teaches that healing begins with one's own thought. A favorite Scriptural quotation came to mind: "Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you" (Matt. 6:33).
