Defend yourself!
What a benefit it would be if we could keep our thinking constantly in touch with God. A consciousness in harmony with God would experience true peace, stronger relationships, and better health.
Actually, the blessing of an awareness of God, or spiritual consciousness, is available to us. But we need to know how to look for it and where to find it. Looking for spiritual consciousness means looking away from man as a physical body with a material brain. Finding spiritual consciousness involves holding radically to the Bible-based view that man is God's image and likeness. It means understanding that man is a spiritual idea, the reflection of God, divine Mind, who really has no other mind or consciousness but the Mind that he reflects of God. Man's oneness with this Mind is not a state or condition that will appear in the future. Nor is it dependent on human circumstances. It is a spiritual fact now—to be understood and proved. A Bible promise gives us insight into how to prove this spiritual fact. It says, "Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you" (James 4:8).
What is our part in this process? What can we do to "draw nigh to God"? We can turn thought unreservedly to Him, realizing that God is present with us today. We can let our worries be washed away by the depth of His love for us. And we can deny the false belief that we ever have been or ever can be separated from Him. Does this seem like an impossibility?
