Of all the healings I've had, I recall one in particular, which up to the time represented the biggest step forward in my spiritual growth and understanding. It occurred when I was in high school, at final exam time.
I was in the yard pulling weeds one day, and evidently got into some poison ivy. By the next day a rash had spread over my entire body. This was further complicated by the spread of impetigo, in its rankest form. A Christian Science practitioner was called, who worked diligently the next few days. As a result of our prayers I got better and was able to complete my exams with ease.
Before long, however—just when I thought I was healed—the condition suddenly began to get worse, and my fear increased. One day I looked at myself in the mirror and was stunned to see what appeared to look like a monster. I feared that I would never look normal again. I spent most of the summer filled with pity for myself—a complete shut-in, refusing to allow anyone except for those in my family to see me.
