I have had many healings throughout my life by relying on what I have learned of Christian Science. On one occasion, I was preparing for a party to entertain several of my husband's co-workers (and feeling somewhat burdened by the preparations). In order to clean a concrete floor in our breezeway, I had hosed it off with water. I was hurrying about when all of a sudden I slipped on the water-slickened concrete and fell flat on my back, hitting the back of my head sharply. I lay there stunned for a short time, and then tried to get up. But I found I could not, so I called my husband for assistance. I began praying, knowing that God was always around me, and that as a spiritual being I was unfallen and upright, a reflection of God.

My husband, who is not a Christian Scientist, became concerned about me because I was feeling so much pain in my arm. He urged me to have X-rays to see if it was broken. I told him that was not necessary since I wanted to rely on Christian Science.

I called a practitioner for help in praying for me. She told me to "look for a blessing." I knew that I had dominion over the evidence of an accident. I had been expressing love and brotherly kindness in giving this party for friends—that was a good activity, and I could not be made to be helpless, or in pain, or subject to irritation in undertaking the gathering. Love's expression was all I could be, and Love's activity was all I could reflect. After a short time I was able to continue to prepare for the party and to welcome the guests with love. They all enjoyed themselves.
