"Successful parents raising positive kids need to see their kids as finished, competent, positive adults while they are still kids; and then need to help their kids 'see' themselves as successful adults in the future. Even though hundreds of articles and books have been published about this subject, poor self image or low self esteem seems to be a national dilemma. Dr. Joyce Brothers says that you cannot perform in a manner which is inconsistent with the way you see yourself.
