When I was young, my mother's close friend, who had been ill for a number of years and under medical care, was completely healed after a Christian Science practitioner prayed for her over just three days' time. My mother was greatly impressed, and began to attend a Christian Science church. Through what my mother learnt and accepted from the services, she was healed of a long-standing illness for which she'd had unsuccessful surgery. She lived for many years after this.
In attending Sunday School, I gradually learnt to practise Christian Science. I remember saying to one teacher, "I must be very wicked because I have some awful thoughts come to me." She smiled and told me I was not responsible for the thoughts that came to me, only for the thoughts I allowed in to use me. This has meant such a lot to me ever since.
In the winter I always had warts on my hands and chilblains on my feet and hands. These just vanished as I read and understood more from the weekly Bible Lesson.
