I have found that Christian Science can be applied to any facet of life, no matter what problem needs solving. I've had healings of smoking, social drinking, a broken collarbone, a tumor, sick headaches, and bruised ribs. At one time in my business career I was asked if I would accept a transfer to New York City, to the main office of the company I worked for. At the time the offer did not seem attractive to me, even though it would be considered a step of progress and would involve an increase in salary.

I was living with my family in a suburban community. We were able to live comfortably on my salary and were very happy. Although it seemed too bad to disturb our tranquillity, I said I would go if necessary. But there was another reason that made me disinclined to jump at the change; I was afraid this would bring me into contact with persons who would be very demanding, disturb my peace of mind, and give me difficult problems to overcome. (This wrong thinking seems so obvious now that I wonder why I was willing to accept it as reasonable or legitimate.)

At about this time, I found myself struggling with a physical problem. My body ached all over; I was lethargic and unable to function normally. I tried to pray about it for several days, but got nowhere.
