Since early childhood I was always attracted to the things of God. When I left my parents' home, this attraction continued, although something was wrong—something that was beyond my poor understanding of God. I understood Him as all-powerful, but also as far away, a God who punished me many times through no fault of my own. Going to confession was not enough to make me feel at peace.

It was at this point, in the midst of a difficult existential battle, that I found the "pearl of great price," Christian Science. Soon after, great revelations started coming to me. I had never found such peace, for which I had so yearned, in the previous searches I had made.

This first contact with Christian Science occurred more than fifteen years ago, through a roommate from my hometown. I was attracted to his way of life, and I gradually started to read the Bible Lessons in the Christian Science Quarterly. Among the many healings I had through the practical application of the teachings of Christian Science, one was of an addiction to smoking.
