Science and Health—a book for studying, for healing, for sharing

I had been been praying for some time for God to give me a wider view of the world and to feel closer to my world family. One day a phone call came at our church from a Christian Science institutional worker in another state. She was telling us of an inmate who had been sent to the federal detention center near us, and asked if someone from our church would visit him, as he had begun to study Christian Science. The chaplain arranged a visit for me with the inmate. He was from Africa and spoke some English. He had his copy of Science and Health with him at our visit.

Later I attended a meeting about the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy. It was wonderful, and I could feel such love. I then wanted to share Science and Health but couldn't think of anyone, so I trusted my desire to God. The next Saturday my husband and I visited the federal detention center for the first Christian Science service our church held there.

The man from Africa came with eight other inmates—from Africa, South America, Mexico, and the United States. After the church service, they all wanted a copy of Science and Health. First thing Monday morning I phoned The Christian Science Publishing Society and ordered the textbook in French, Spanish, and English.
