Walking in the light

If you were in a darkroom developing photographic negatives and someone turned on the light, you would not be pleased; such exposure spoils photographic negatives so they cannot be developed. But if you were suffering from some negative development in your life and that harmful development was wiped out through exposure to spiritual light shining in your thought, you would be pleased.

Because our physical senses cannot discern spiritual light, they may deceive us into believing we can be "in the dark" concerning God, His laws of harmony, and His loving and perpetual care of us as His beloved children. This supposed mental darkness occasions fear, of which I heard an interesting description on a radio talk show recently: "Fear is a darkroom where negatives are developed."

No one, however, needs to live in a darkroom of material deception and fear. Spiritual light actually shines everywhere all the time because it emanates from God, the omnipresent Spirit which fills all space. We need only open our thought to it in order to experience its benefits. As the Bible declares, "God is light, and in him is no darkness at all" (I John 1:5).
