The praise of God that heals and saves

Original in Spanish

Praising God helps lift us out of mental darkness, such as fear and disillusionment. The Old Testament prophet Jeremiah said, "Heal me, O Lord, and I shall be healed; save me, and I shall be saved: for thou art my praise" (17:14).

Glorifying God is worship, and effective prayer. It frees us from the personal "I" that only wants to concentrate on itself. We can't praise God when we are too occupied with ourselves. When we begin to praise our creator, the human "I" yields to the great I am, God, and tensions and limitations disappear just as the night yields to the morning. But this praise of God isn't a material worship, a song merely from the lips; it is from the heart, from a deep love for God, from an understanding of Him, from gratitude, and therefore it is genuine. Man, who is the image and likeness of God, as the Bible declares, is made to glorify God, and this is our true selfhood.

Praising our creator opens our thought to the healing influence of the Christ, to the light of Truth that guides us day and night, that transforms the darkened thought, illuminating it with spiritual understanding, confidence, and gratitude to God, infinite good.
