One day a few years ago, my sister called me on the telephone

One day a few years ago, my sister called me on the telephone. When she asked me how I was, I told her that my left shoulder had become injured while I was moving a bundle of asphalt shingles. I could no longer lift heavy objects over my head using that shoulder. I told my sister, who is an experienced Christian Scientist, that the condition had gone on for a few months. My sister resolutely responded that she would gladly do some praying for me.

This inspired me to renew my own prayer about the situation. I studied deeply and carefully the following passage from Science and Health: "When the illusion of sickness or sin tempts you, cling steadfastly to God and His idea. Allow nothing but His likeness to abide in your thought. Let neither fear nor doubt overshadow your clear sense and calm trust, that the recognition of life harmonious—as Life eternally is—can destroy any painful sense of, or belief in, that which Life is not. Let Christian Science, instead of corporeal sense, support your understanding of being, and this understanding will supplant error with Truth, replace mortality with immortality, and silence discord with harmony" (p. 495).

I became inspired with the spiritual truths conveyed in this passage. I was probably healed then of the dislocated shoulder, though I didn't think about my arm and become aware of the healing until a week or two later. The healing was complete.
