from the Editors

Several weeks ago we heard from a subscriber who has been praying for opportunities to do more to help the world. One afternoon, on her way home from work she saw a man standing at the side of the road with a cardboard sign that read, "Will work for food." She hadn't eaten her lunch and decided to give it to him, along with a copy of a Sentinel.

When she told one of her friends about this, the thought came—wouldn't it be great to make some sandwiches and pack them with a Sentinel and hand them out to other homeless people when there's a need? At the time of this writing, they had given away over 250 lunches and copies of the Sentinel. For both of these women, this has been a very moving experience.

This is just one way that two people were led to help others. Everyone will find their own individual ways of praying and helping the world. First, we all need to take the initiative to pray, and then respond accordingly. We hope that this Sentinel encourages everyone to be "doers of the word, and not hearers only" (James 1:22).
