Stuck in the wilderness? Or growing spiritually?
In the midst of desolate circumstances, you can discover a new view that offers comfort and hope.
I love the wilderness. Being a nature lover, I've enjoyed many hours hiking in mountains and woods and walking along the seashore.
Was I surprised the first time I saw a picture of what the Bible refers to as a wilderness! This wilderness appeared bleak and desolate—definitely not the sort of place where I'd willingly choose to spend my free time.
Seeing that picture gave me a new perspective on what Moses called "the waste howling wilderness." I also had a much greater appreciation for what the children of Israel went through, spending forty years wandering in the wilderness. Water springing from a rock and manna appearing from heaven took on new meaning for me.
