Loyal Christian Scientists
A recent letter has turned us to the writings of Mary Baker Eddy to study her use of the term loyal. In doing so, we have been reminded that her book Miscellaneous Writings opens with these words: "To LOYAL CHRISTIAN SCIENTISTS in this and every land I lovingly dedicate these practical teachings indispensable to the culture and achievements which constitute the success of a student and demonstrate the ethics of Christian Science." Likewise, her work Rudimental Divine Science opens, "This little book is tenderly and respectfully dedicated to all loyal students, working and waiting for the establishment of the Science of Mind-healing." Loyal Christian Scientists is a broad term covering all faithful students of the Bible and the works of the Leader of Christian Science.
Among these works is the Manual of The Mother Church, which brings us to the letter that prompted our study. The correspondent is a former attorney who is now active in the public practice of Christian Science healing, and an earnest student of our Leader's works. The letter speaks for itself, and we believe it will be helpful to many who are praying for a better understanding of the government of Mrs. Eddy's Church, The First Church of Christ, Scientist. He writes:
