How grateful I am for Christian Science—to be able to raise our children in this religion and to have it as our way of life.

Last year, as one of our sons was crossing the street in front of our house, he was hit by a car. I was in the backyard at the time and heard the screech of brakes and the impact. I ran to the street, not knowing who had been hit. As I ran I declared the spiritual truth about God's creation, affirming that one idea of God cannot collide with another. It then occurred to me that our son was due home that very moment. Neighbors began to come to the scene.

When I reached the street, he was lying there crying and trying to get up. He had landed on his head, and he told me that he could not see. I immediately declared to him that God was right there. In Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, Mary Baker Eddy says, referring to Jesus, "He knew that matter had no life and that real Life is God; therefore he could no more be separated from his spiritual Life than God could be extinguished." I knew this child could never be separated from his loving Father-Mother God.
