When I was five months old I became sick
When I was five months old I became sick. In spite of their best efforts, doctors told my parents that they had done everything possible and that I could only live a short time.
My parents immediately told their best friends, both Christian Scientists, who helped them contact a Christian Science practitioner seven hundred miles away. The prayers of this practitioner brought complete healing that same day; I was again healthy and normal in every way.
Both my parents became active Christian Scientists and began to have many healings. They had worn glasses since childhood, and both were soon healed of the need for them. Our family grew to rely on Christian Science prayer for all of the problems that came along. After my sister taught school for several years, she became sick. The school required an examination by a doctor, who diagnosed her illness as pleurisy. He recommended an operation. She decided to rely on Christian Science for healing, and although she was ill for a few months, she was fully healed. One day a little hole opened under her breast, and fluid drained away; the opening closed, and she recovered rapidly. She returned to teaching and lived more than fifty years after that healing. Her life was active and useful.
