I have been a practicing Christian Scientist for over forty...
I have been a practicing Christian Scientist for over forty years, and have found healing of many physical problems and help through other difficult experiences. I would like to relate an experience where Christian Science was my Comforter, my guide, and my chief executive officer.
Retiring from the Army after thirty-one years' service, I became a vice-president in a major meatpacking company, and finally managed one of the largest state fairs in the country. I had reached a milestone in my career. Should I now rest on my laurels, or should I find something else to do?
I prayed over this question for a number of days. The temptation was to retire and entertain myself. But I realized that because I was God's reflection, my life was going on continuously, without any slowdowns or inactivity. Daily I studied the description of Mind (God) as given in Science and Health. I was particularly impressed with the statement "God is the creator of man, and, the divine Principle of man remaining perfect, the divine idea or reflection, man remains perfect" (p. 470). My age or my physical condition was no measurement of my true being, or my ability to be productive.
