I feel it is incumbent upon me to fulfill an obligation of gratitude to God and Christian Science by testifying to three decisive healings.
I was instantaneously healed of hemorrhoids. When I took a required physical examination for employment, the kindly doctor said to me, "You are physically fit, but when you reach the age of thirty you will need an operation for hemorrhoids." Being a rather new student of Christian Science, I was not alert enough to recognize this as an erroneous thought—not from God—which I needed to correct with the spiritual truth. During my thirtieth year hemorrhoids were indeed manifested. At first I ignored the problem, but then one time the pain was so great that I found myself saying, "Someday I will heal this with Christian Science." Well, almost immediately came the angel message from God, "Someday? Why not now?"
I agreed, and turned my thought wholeheartedly to prayer. I was in the shower before going to work that morning. In less time that it takes to write this, I declared in my highest, yet simple understanding, "God is Mind, and that Mind is infinite, filling all space with its infinite purity." I knew hemorrhoids were nothing more than manifestations of incorrect, mortal beliefs about God and man. But there can be no incorrect beliefs because there is no false, mortal mind to think them; all space is filled by infinite Mind, God, who creates and governs all in perfect harmony. I affirmed this and went to work. Two days later I remembered the incident, and found I had no evidence of hemorrhoids. That was decades ago, and the healing has been permanent.
