One December a number of years ago I was called into my employer's office and told that the departments I was managing would be eliminated. I was told there was only enough work to last through March, and that I should seek another job. This was quite frightening, as my wife and I had lived in our new home for only two years. We had two sons in private colleges, and didn't have a bank reserve to depend on for very long.
Although my first reaction was to start looking for a new job as quickly as possible, I realized I needed to approach this problem prayerfully first and then to take whatever steps were appropriate. I was First Reader in our church, and that week my reading for the Wednesday service was on the subject of supply. In the Bible I had found the account of Jesus' feeding a multitude with several loaves of bread and a few fish (see Mark, chap. 6). He proved that when the correct concept of supply is understood clearly in consciousness, provision is attained in human experience.
