Eight years ago I came down with sneezing fits, and my nose ran incessantly. For one entire year I went daily to the doctor for inhalation and also had radiation treatments. Then I was operated on twice, without success. I thought I'd just have to learn to live with these problems the rest of my life.
Four and a half years ago a friend called my attention to Christian Science. As I read the book Science and Health, it became progressively clearer to me that I had found the truth. I didn't get well all at once, but I felt a joy and freedom, as if chains that had been binding me up to then had been burst open.
Talking with a Christian Science practitioner, I learned to pray. We discussed this passage from the Bible: "Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me. Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me. Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit" (Ps. 51:10, 11).
