Trustworthy thinkers

How we're viewing others has a lot to do with the degree to which we're following Jesus' example.

"I know I can trust you completely; I know that whatever I tell you about myself, you will think of it only in the light of spiritual truth and will not believe what is not spiritually true of me."

This heartfelt comment, coming from an appreciative patient to a Christian Science practitioner, reflected the sacred trust and confidentiality that had been established between them as they had worked together to bring healing to various difficulties through prayer. It was a tender and poignatnt reminder to the practitioner of the value and importance of genuine trustworthiness. In fact, remembering the words of Christ Jesus, "He that believeth on me, believeth not on me, but on him that sent me," the practitioner was prompted right then and there to affirm quietly that the patient was naturally trusting in God's government of man, rather than in a human personality. After all, the patient had been trusting the practitioner to think in a trustworthy way—in line with the teachings of Christ Jesus and of the Christ Science which heals and saves.

Christian Science sets forth the fundamental truths of God and man which enable us to think and pray in a way that heals. It teaches the oneness and allness of God, good; man as the spiritual image and likeness of God; the consequent powerlessness, untruth, and unreality of all that is unlike God.
