I was introduced to Christian Science by a member of a local Christian Science church. This woman gave me a copy of the Christian Science Sentinel. The cover mentioned something about God's love, and I felt immediately that this would apply to me.
At the time, I did not feel God loved me. I felt that he was punishing me, although I did not know why. I had been a churchgoer for twenty-seven years and had taught Sunday School, taken Bible classes for three years, and was familiar with the Bible. Still, I did not know God's love. I was searching for peace, and suffering from a nervous problem for which I took medicinal drugs four or five times a day. During this time I attempted suicide three times.
The morning I was given the Sentinel, I read an article and immediately found the inner peace that I was searching for. After that day I had no need or desire for the medication. I had no aftereffects or withdrawal symptoms, even though a woman I knew who was on the same drug had suffered these symptoms and been hospitalized. Also my blood pressure, which had been high, lowered to a normal level. At the same time, my eyesight improved greatly. My optometrist asked why, and I gave him a Sentinel an a Bible.
