One summer we were visiting friends in another state
One summer we were visiting friends in another state. We had been picking strawberries and came in from the field hot and tired. When the children were getting water at an old pump, my son fell and cut his lip severely.
I enfolded him in my arms and turned wholeheartedly to God. I knew I loved the boy, but I knew also that God's love was alone able to heal him. I felt (without a doubt) that God, divine Love, was caring for both of us.
We sat in the car, just the two of us, and quietly talked to God. The profuse bleeding stopped in minutes. In the Christian Science Sunday School my son had been learning "the scientific statement of being" found in Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. We firmly held to the truths of this statement, which begins: "There is no life, truth, intelligence, nor substance in matter. All is infinite Mind and its infinite manifestation, for God is All-in-all." We affirmed that my son was included in this "infinite manifestation."
