While cleaning my teeth, a dentist was appalled at a condition...
While cleaning my teeth, a dentist was appalled at a condition on the roof of my mouth. He said there were deep ulcers, which might be cancerous, and he strongly recommended that I get in touch with a medical specialist at once.
Upon returning home, I decided that this was an opportunity to seek healing in Christian Science. As I thought about the dentist's recommendation, I realized that a Christian Science practitioner is a specialist in spiritual healing. I asked a practitioner to pray for me and was in touch with her daily.
After about three weeks, however, I questioned the extent of my faith and understanding, and asked the practitioner to stop helping me. I was not inclined to seek medical assistance, but I was concerned about the cost of extended Christian Science treatment and our tight budget. In response to my request to stop working, the practitioner asked me to sit down and prayerfully ponder the allness of God and the nothingness of matter for at least fifteen minutes, and then to call her back.
