Several years ago a large spot appeared on my temple

Several years ago a large spot appeared on my temple. Because there was no physical discomfort associated with the condition, and because it did not get worse, I didn't pray about it at that time. But one day my wife commented that the spot was more noticeable and alarming. Then I decided to take immediate action to heal the condition; I began to pray and called a Christian Science practitioner.

The practitioner referred me to a rather cryptic passage from the book of Exodus in the Bible. "And he made the laver of brass, and the foot of it of brass, of the looking glasses of the women assembling, which assembled at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation." Were I to have read this entire chapter, I'm sure I would have read right through this verse. But as the practitioner and I discussed it, I began to see its relevance to my situation.

I gained inspiration from this text; it helped me realize that my correct appearance is revealed in understanding my true, spiritual identity, not in an image viewed in a mirror. I began to know that I was the perfect expression, or image, of God, reflecting God's uncontaminated goodness. Mrs. Eddy writes in Science and Health: "A picture in the camera or a face reflected in the mirror is not the original, though resembling it. Man, in the likeness of his Maker, reflects the central light of being, the invisible God."
