Healing through prayer

When we're faced with sickness or some other challenge, it's natural to turn to God for help. His power heals.

The power of God to heal is one of the most important messages of the Bible, especially of Christ Jesus' ministry.

How did Jesus heal? How can our prayers today heal those who are in such great need? Prayer enables us to glimpse something of God's constant presence and care. It helps us to discern what's really going on—the truth of perfect creator and perfect spiritual creation—beyond what appears to be happening. This opens the way to healing. The Master was always aware of the presence of God with him. His understanding of God's ever-active love healed.

When two blind men called out for healing, the Gospel of Matthew tells us, "Jesus had compassion on them, and touched their eyes: and immediately their eyes received sight, and they followed him." Didn't the love expressed by Jesus in his healing work include his discernment of something unapparent to a common perception of things? His cures pointed to a higher view of man as made in the image of God, and so untouched by evil. The Way-shower understood the all-power of Spirit, God, and what man really is, and from this basis he proved the impotence of material conditions.
